HKECIA welcomes measures to support C&E industry in the 2022 Policy Address hopes Hong Kong to relax all epidemic prevention measures
[6th June 2017] Organised by Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Industry Association (HKECIA), the HKECIA Conference & the 27th Annual Dinner took place on 2 June, 2017 in Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Over 110 HKECIA members and guests attended the Conference entitled “Success, Sustainability & the Future”. In the conference, Mr. Craig Pepples, CEO of Global Sources shared his view on why sourcing events are important to the Hong Kong exhibition industry and economy, and how infrastructure development in Hong Kong would facilitate international buyers to attend sourcing shows in Hong Kong. In the second session, Mr. Mark Cochrane, UFI Regional Manager, Asia Pacific has interviewed Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd on his company’s success story. Mr. Robbie McRobbie, Deputy CEO of Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) shared with audience what measures did the HKRU has taken to reduce the total waste level over the three days of the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens tournament by half; while Mr. Daben Mao, Executive Deputy General Manager, Exhibition Operation Center, China Merchants Real Estate (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. gave audience an update on the new Convention & Exhibition Centre in Shenzhen, which will be the largest convention & exhibition centre upon completion. Last but not least, Ms. Monica Lee-Muller, Managing Director of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited talked about the history of HKCEC and how the operation of the building has developed in the intervening 20 years.
The HKECIA 27th Annual Dinner took place on the same night, welcoming over 320 members & guests. Mr. Gregory So, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong SAR Government was the Guest of Honor and delivered an opening speech at the Dinner. Also, the HKECIA Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Stanley Chu from Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd to acknowledge his dedication and contribution to the Hong Kong Exhibition Industry throughout many years.

The Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) was established in 1990 to promote Hong Kong as a world-class exhibition and conference destination and the trade fair capital of Asia Pacific. It works to represent the interests of all members involved in the exhibition and convention industries, and provides a unified voice in dealing with the government, legislative and statutory bodies, the media and public organisations, on all matters associate with the role of the exhibition and convention industry in Hong Kong’s economy.
