Well, being sustainable means that you are making changes to avoid the depletion of natural resources. Creating sustainable events is key to being a responsible event planner. Green Initiatives: A Case Study on MWC Barcelona<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ms. Sianne Ryder, Head of Events, Asia of GSMA<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

GSMA has been committed to minimise negative environmental impact in their events. Their MWC (Mobile World Congress) Barcelona has been certified carbon neutral from\u00a02014-2018\u00a0and has been recognised as \u201cThe World\u2019s Largest Carbon Neutral Trade Show\u201d by the Guinness World Records in 2015 & 2016. And they are planning to do more in MWC Barcelona 2019. In this presentation, Sianne will discuss the essential elements that have resulted in this big success, such as key partnerships and relationships, innovative use of digital technology, creating incentives and key communication methods and more. She will also share with audience some easy-to-implement ideas and initials steps to create a \u201cGreener\u201d event.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Food, Glorious Food – A Look at Sustainable Event Catering<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ms. Lily Ng, CEO of Foodie Group Limited<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

As all good convention and exhibition organisers know, one of most important things to get right to ensure delegate satisfaction is the food and drink. Even the greatest conference with the best speakers and topics have been negatively summed up in delegate surveys quite simply \u201cthe food was no good!\u201d. So when at Foodie we started running a food themed conference we knew we had to get it right. On top of the need to serve our delegates great food and drink was our desire to be as low-waste and environmentally responsible as possible.<\/p>\n

From the get-go, the Food\u2019s Future Summit was set out to be a low-waste conference, to ensure the event operates consistently with its agenda of raising awareness on food sustainability.\u00a0 In order to achieve such an epic mission, for an event that was attended by over 300 professionals, extra planning and measures reaching far beyond just sourcing recycling bins were implemented.\u00a0 It was not an easy endeavour by any stretch of the imagination.\u00a0 The result?\u00a0 The Summit was arguably the first large scale, low-waste event ever hosted in Hong Kong, and ended up receiving an award in the Best Event category at this year\u2019s Spark Awards.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Sustainable and Stunning Stand Design with Textile<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Jan Blomme, Managing Director of ShowTex Hong Kong & China<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The presentation will focus on the sustainable use of event and theatre fabrics. Possibilities of reusing fabrics, recycling and upcycling textile in exhibitions will be discussed. We will see how waste can be reduced by designing and building with textile.<\/p>\n

There will be an introduction in various fabric tension systems and wrap around aluminum profile systems. We will see how textile and tension systems can be used in stand and exhibition design, what the technical possibilities are and how it\u2019s possible to create a stunning yet reusable and lightweight exhibition stand with fabrics. We go through the details of how to shift stand design away from traditional build methods with wood, paint and sticker to stand design with profiles and textile.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
