HKECIA Celebrates 20th Anniversary and Elects New Chairman

(Released on 17 May 2010, Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) has just celebrated its 20th Anniversary at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 6 May 2010 and the new Executive Committee was elected during the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held on the same day.

The new Chairman for 2010-2012 is Mr. Daniel Cheung (General Manager of the Hong Kong Exhibition Services Ltd). Executive Vice Chairman is Mr. Javed Khan (General Manager of Kenfair International Ltd) and two Vice Chairmen are Mr. Cramond Wong (Managing Director of AMC (Exhibits) Ltd) and Mr. Ronald Unterburger (Managing Director and CEO of Asia Pacific of MMI Asia Pte Ltd). Mr Andrew Kay (Managing Director of China Promotion Ltd) remains the Honorary Secretary of the Association and the Honorary Treasurer is Ms. Culsin Li (General Manager of Magic Media Co Ltd).

Mr. Stanley Chu (Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd), being the immediate past Chairman of HKECIA, was nominated as the Honorary Life President in recognition of his chairmanship for four consecutive terms. “I am genuinely honored to have received this recognition. It is my pleasure to be the Chairman of the HKECIA for the past eight years that enables me to contribute my knowledge and ideas to the Association and the industry.” Mr. Stanley Chu said.

HKECIA’s newly elected Chairman, Mr. Daniel Cheung said, “Thanks to the contribution of the past chairmen and the executive committee members who laid a solid foundation for the Association. I sincerely hope that all members of the Association continue to offer their support and work together to maintain Hong Kong’s leading position in the exhibition and convention in the region.”

To commemorate the 20th Anniversary, HKECIA has published a book featuring the history of the Association and the development of exhibition industry in Hong Kong. Besides that, a time tunnel presenting the exhibition industry of Hong Kong is now displayed at the Expo Galleria inside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre till 30 May 2010.

The Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) was established in 1990 to promote Hong Kong as a world-class exhibition and conference destination and the trade fair capital of Asia Pacific. It works to represent the interests of all members involved in the exhibition and convention industries, and provides a unified voice in dealing with the government, legislative and statutory bodies, the media and public organizations, on all matters associate with the role of the exhibition and convention industry in Hong Kong’s economy.
